This problem has spiraled out of control. It's a total disaster. We've tried just about everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work. At this point, it feels like we're doomed. Frankly, I don't know what else to do. This is a train wreck of epic proportions.

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of terrible hair. I couldn't do it to look presentable. As I was dashing out the door, I fell and gracefully all over myself. To make matters worse, I was completely running behind here for school.
I panting. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I attempted to explain, but it was a hopeless situation.
The rest of the day was an absolute nightmare. was a catastrophe. I get anything done.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted. This day, this horrific day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
